C. Allen Director of Physical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I just received the last addition of the Jayhawk Reboumler, and as usual found a great deal of interest in it. This pamphlet of yours is the only contact with the school and the men i knew which I have, and you can imagine the pleasure it affords all of us who have known you and the University. Of course, ~ those who are serving in the battle lines cherish their copies even more than we in this country do, but all the same I want you to know that I wouldn't want to miss my issue. I have been here at the San Angelo Army Air Field since early in September, and enjoy the work here very much. My particular job at this time is as instructor in ground school, teaching weather to the cadets. It doesn't soum like much of a job when you think of what so many of the men are doing, but I guess some one has to lay the ground work, and I'm thankful I can do that much until such time as I'm needed in something bigger. : I was mighty glad to get the word that T.P. was o.k. and still in there pitching. He was a great guy, and the news is heartening. I must close, but keep me on your mailing list and best wishes for continued success in your many endeavors. Sincerely, Bact& Bill Greene 2nd Lt. AC OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL TRAINING GARDEN CITY ARMY AIR FIELD Garden City, Kansas October 9, 1943 Dr. Forrest C. Allen, Director of Physical Training, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Doe; I was mighty happy to receive the August issue of "Jay- hawk Rebounds". This is a great idea to let old cronies know of each others whereabouts. It was with much interest that I read the letters from the other boys. The last I heard from you was when I was stationed at Curtis Field, I have been here at the Garden City Army Air Field since the first of the — as head of the Physical Training department. I have wanted to take a hop up to Lawrence to say hello many times, but this job of setting up a program on a new field is a pretty big one and I have been far too busy to travel around. This is the second one I have set up. I did go out to Hays and over to Hastings, Nebraska for about two weeks setting up Physical Training programs at those colleges t00. I am gOing to get busy one of these days and write toa lot of the fellows. Ruth and I are very happy here at Garden City. You know, of course, that we have a baby girl now. She was a year old the sixth of October. She is really a husky ‘and is just start- ing to walk. We get a big kick out of playing with her. Aviation Cadet Bob Stoland was here for basic training and I got to talk with him quite a lot. By the way, Bob was one of the outstanding cadets we have ever had here. He won the ath- letic award for his class. A very fine specimen. Must close now and go home to dinner. Remember us to every- one and write when a can. Sincerely, ae HARRY G. GRAY ist Lt., Air Corps, post physical training officer.
