Since I am doing my own typing,I will omit
all formality and warn you that sooner or later
mistakes will probably occur.

I enclose herewith a picture of Lt. Col. Jay
B. Smith of Valley Center, Kansas, our Group Oper-

Jay flew against’ the: Japs ix the Aleutians
before coming to us so he is not exactly a novice.
.He was very much pleased when I showed him the
Jayhawk model and said he'd refrained from naming
his ship because he'd been trying to get a Jayhawk
