John | avis Glenn 710 EAST FOURTH ST. BEARDSTOWN, ILLINOIS October 19, 1940 Dr. Forrest C. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: While in the process of dictating a letter to you, your letter of October 17 arrived and has somewhat changed my thoughts and plans, however, I am now on @ sound found- ation after receiving it and will shoot straight to the shoulder in making our plans. On November 2, I am planning on attending the Northwestern- Minnesota game in Evanston as it is Homecoming and & number of the boys of the Phi Delt House are planning on @ get- together after the game. Since Mother is also a graduate of Northwestern, she too is planning on being present for the battle. She will stey with my Aunt, Mrs. Carrie Glenn Sommers, 1519 Hinman Avenue, Evanston, while I will be the guest of the Lonborgs over Saturday and Sunday. As for the tickets for you and Mrs. Allen, I am writing for them today, so if you will write me as to your schedule of towns and hotels, I will forward them to you special delivery immediately after they are received. Incidentally, they issue tickets rather close to the game date, so don't be alarmed if they are ‘somewhat delayed in reaching you. Now as for our getting together. I noted in your letter of October 10 that you will be in Toledo on November 1 and on November 7 at Milwaukee. We would be more than glad to have you and Mrs. Allen as our guest in Beardstown at your con- venience, either on the lst or the 7th. The reason that I have delayed in answering your first letter is due to the fact that Mother has been in St. Louis visiting relatives for a few days and I wanted to have her acqueinted with our plans before writing. Again, remember that we are leaving the time of your stay with us up to you, whereas you know you will receive a warm welcome upon either date. Just advise us what time is more convenient to you and we will make our plans accordingly. I only wish I could make those trips with you, as I am sure that your sessions in Milwaukee and Toledo will be more than worth while. I forgot to mention the fact that Lonborg lives at 2507 Ash- land Avenue, Evanston, and if you will give me a ring either at that address, Phone University 0903 or at my Aunt's, Greenleaf 6258, we can make arrangements to get together some time over the Homecoming weekend.
