Allen 105 Robinson University of Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: Just a note confirming our conversation of Saturday, May 31. I believe these statement are accurate, at least to the best of my knowledge. If not I wish you would correct me. The pool will be open each day except Thursday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. It will be under the supervision of Marjorie Rader. You will purchase 12 soft balls and 6 bats (same type that you will use in your recreation program) to be used by the girls and returned for half price. The girls will use the three soft ball diamonds on Tuesday and Saturday from 3:30 to 5:00, and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1;00 to 3:00. The tennis courts below the gymnasium will be available only when summer school students are not using them. The girls will furnish only rackets and balls; nets and courts furnished by the University. Ping pong tables in the east end of the gymnasium will be available, paddles to be checked out, girls to furnish their own balls. Shuffle board: equipment available to be checked out; badminton equipment to be furnished by the girls (rackets and shuttlecocks). If any girls participate in archery they will furnish their own arrows. It is my understanding that the Univer- sity has a number of arrows that may be purchased. The golf course will be available at all times as long as it is not crowded by summer school students. Also, just a note to confirm your speaking date before these girls on Tuesday at the dinner hour. You and Mrs. Allen are cordially invited to attend the tinner. Incidently, you and Governor Ratner are on the same program. If any of these statements are in error I would appreciate having them corrected. You will recall that we discussed the availability of the swimiing pool, tennis courts, your own twilight recrea- tional facilities, etc. The women on the steering committee were delighted with your generosity and it has already been advertised that such would be available. Of course the swimming pool will have to be supervised and a definite time will have to be set for its use. One of the girls in the Physical Education Department, I can't recall her name, is on the staff of this Girls' State group so I ean think of no better person to supervise this than this girl. I surmize that inasmuch as Phil Bolich was a member of the Winston-Salem Commission sometime ago for several years but has recently been reappointed after two or three years absence he probably used an old list that carried your name as a member or possibly chairman of the Kansas Athletic Commission. Owing to the lack of finances the National Boxing Association has not kept its members completely informed when there are changes in the personnel of the various commissions. In fact with our sister State of Missouri while I have been told there are two changes made in the last few months on their Commission I do not yet have the names of the two new members, I understand that Bill is out of the hospital and is coming along as well as can be expected and I sincerely hope that this information is correct, With highest personal regards to yourself, I am pet Cordially yours, ; if, ‘ ee ae hie ia aw" a a ak og $535 pn tt Cuneo ii a Ro guitar Cronin ee got Ao ee GRRE St oh ‘ fa “ vt : Frank Gilleece Executive Secretary PGSEG Announcing— FOURTH ANNUAL COACHING SCHOOL Sponsored by GEORGIA ATHEETIC GQACHES ASSOCIATION in Cooperation wiih UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA SUMMER SCHOOL ATHENS, GEORGIA — AUGUST 18 - 22 Climaxed by— ALL STAR FOOTBALL GAME NORTH GEORGIA ALI-STARS Coached by Rex Enright, Using Notre Dame Sysiem vs SOUTH GEORGIA ALL-STARS Coached by “Bear Wolf, Using Double-Wing Olfense at Grant Field, Atlanta, Friday Night, August 22 Through the Courtesy of GEORGIA TECH ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION GIRLS MILITARY BAND, directed by Jack Taylor, will play at the game SELBY H.
