May 23rd, 1941 ' Cheirman, Progran Committee | Central Missouri State Teachers College Warrensburg, Missouri Dear Noel: You'll perdon my delay in net answering your letter of the l4th, sooner? I have been ovt on a commencement adéress every evening for the past two weeks and my correspon~ dence hes suffered. Nothing would delight me more than to be with you "old-timers" on June 6th. However, the University of Kansas has its Seventy Fifth Anniversery Sunset Barbecue at 5:30 P.M. on thet date anc I am at the present wavering between desire and duty. They neturally expect the faculty to stay on the job. And, there is another thing and that is the item of expense in traveling. Ordinarily I would not mention such a thing but I'm called to go so many places that it's necessary to make my budget meet. I reglize how limited your committée, mst be concerning funds, but frankly, I find it imperative that my traveling expenses be taken care of in some manner. : Please feel perfectly free, Noel, to say so if your committees is umable to make such arrangements. Nothing would — delight me more than to be with you but I'm sure you can appreciate my situation when the State makes no provision for any sort of traveling expenses, And to, I receive so many calls for speaking dates that it*s necessary for me to make both ends meet. With all good wishes, I an, Sincerely yours, : Director of Physical Edacation aid Reereation- FCA: re Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach.
