BENSON, Harrisburg nton Harrisburg Ice Company April 27, 1940 Dr. Forrest C. Allen Varsity Basketball Coach University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allens I have purposely delayed in writing you since my arriv- al home from the finals of the National Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament since I knew that you would be swanped with "fan mail" and also to prove to you that the time spent with your squad will not be forgotten in a short period of time. It was certainly kind of your team to include me in the group to receive the gold Elgin wristwatch as well as your presenting me with a gold championship belt buckel after the western play-off game with Southern Californ- ia. No doubt, you and Mrs. Allen have talked the scholastic standing of John Buescher over and have found some meth- od of getting him past his low marks already establish- ed this semester. I have written John, along with sev- eral of my friends in Beardstown and I only hope that these letters have some effect on him. If he can only pass this semester, he should pay big dividends for you during the next three years. Again, many thanks for the many kindnesses extended to me during the recent basketball tournaments in Kansas City. ord hb s f JHG/CK HN H. GLE
