Dear Dr. Allen:

We are enclosing the
blue print showing the regulation:
athletic field of the University of
Kansas which you sent us some days
ago. The Board of Education wishes
me to express their-appreciation for
your courtesy in this matter.

We are anxious to know what
should be the mixture making up the
composition of the track. The field
here wiil be placed on sandy loam
soil. As you remember, perhaps, we
have a Soda Ash plant in our city.
We are wondering if the residue left
from the manufacture of the soda ash
would make a good base for the cinder
track. If you and your engineers
will give us the proper mixture to
use and method of preparing it we
Shall be grateful.
