Summer practice started August 14, and the regular fall practice will get under way September 1, with very little break between the two. The first game is scheduled with Washburn at Haskell Stadium September 15, under the floodlights. and the following week K.U. plays T.C.U. in Kansas City at Muehlebach Field. About 65 — reported for the opening practices. Among them were several likely looking candidates and several of last year's team. Of. course, many of the boys were newoomers, some of whom have never played even high school football, while others were pretty light for Big Six competition. Seven boys reported weighing under 150 pounds. | At present the following boys seem to be the most likely candidates for starting berths against Washburn September 15: Right end - Duteh Schimenz and Gordon Reynolds. Schimenz weighs 195 and is a member of the Vel2 mit, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He played backfield in high school but shows promise at end. Gordon Reynolds, 6'1", weighing 183, had one year of oii at North Dakota State. At right tackle, a freshman, Sam Hunter, 6°, witeline 180 pounds, l7eyeareold, is the most promising candidate, Sam was allestate tackle last year in high school. Ivory Bird from Olathe, Kansas, end Darwin Lambkin, from Hudson, Wisconsin, are other likely candidates for the right tackle spot.
