In talking this week with Raymond Nichols he asks that I get to
you the schedule of classes for Hoch Auditorium as desired by the
Fine Arts School for the second semester. The program, as out-
lined, is an exact continuation of the hours now already arranged
for and represents no expansion.

If there happens to be a falling off in the number of classes in
the physical conditioning work, we should appreciate being in-
formed of any free time inasmuch as at the present time we are
handling three students in organ in downtown churches in addition
to the work being done here. We contemplate these students going
right on. There is the possibility, of course, that there might
be some withdrawals or there might be an increase in the depart-
ment. These cannot be reckoned with right now.

The schedule as it carries over then runs about as follows:

Monday 5:20-6:00 peme = organ
Tuesday 10:30-11:30 aome
12:30-3:30 peme t eee
3:50 =5:00 peme — orchestra
Wednesday 1:30-2:30 peme = organ
Thursday 10:30-11:30 aeme =- organ

Don Diehl was unable to get into the A Cappella Choir last
semester because he was “drafted" into the Beta Intra-mural
football team, but asked that I save a place for him for
the second semester.

He is in Navy V-l and if his Physical Conditioning classes
could be arranged for 8:30 Monday, Yednesday and Friday and
10:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays, he could make our 4:30 ae sande:
ment for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

I sincerely hope this can be adjusted by your office so

Mr. Diehl can join the choir. Would you let us know about
this at an early date, please? The choir is already meet-_
ing and under way.

girls' band, which has pogsibilities of working

GOOD, I would like to feature it at one of the

Mr, Cote, of the Santa Fe Railway Company,
told me this morning that he still felt it would
be possible to transport our band to Kansas City.

In our discussion of the physical education set-up in the cabinet,
I raised the question then that the use of the 4:30 hour, coupled
with R.O.T.C. at that time, would possibly cause us grave damage
; in attempting to form the splendid organizations such as the Men's
: Glee Club and the A Cappella Choir. It was discussed and decided
at that time that probably adjustments could be made by transfer-
ring certain students who might come in on the afternoons when
these organizations had their rehearsals in a way that would not
damage either program.

I already have the cases of John Ehrlich and Richard Coy who have
been signed up for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4:30. These
boys both are planning to be in the A Cappella Choir which meets
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Never before have we had such dif-=
ficulty in getting men available for this important organization
and at present there is some doubt in my mind as to whether the

A Cappella Choir will be able to function this year because of the
lack of mene We never had a finer set of women voices.

I am wondering if you could take the matter under advisement and
work out for these two young men, and possibly certain others that
come along, an adjustment schedule whereby they will be allowed
to be present at the Monday rehearsal which is necessary to their
remaining in the Choir and getting the proper amount of credit.

We shall appreciate your attention to this and I feel sure you can
work it out.
