VOX POP LETTERS

 

The Firepower Comnitteets two members who work at the
ordnance plant should be naturals for this jobs They can
easily find two fellow workers who will help recruit new
workers by writing lotters to the "Letters to the Editor"
column in the local paper. The influence of people already
working at the plant can be of great value, expecially in eme
phasizing the safety precautions and the low accident rate
at the plant.

The suggested letters are only patterns = the one on this
page to be written by a man and the one on the following page
by a womane They should not be copied, but should be rephrased
in the words of the two Sle wee a sign then.

First Letter

Dear Editor:

My job is making rocket powder (or whatever job is)
at Sunflower Ordnance Works. I'm writing this letter because
Itve learned some inside things that I think people outside ought
to know. Expecially people here in our town so near the plante

When I took this job a lot of ny friends thought I was
crazye They said gunpowder was too dangerous to fool around withe
Well, I took the job and I'm sticking right with it till the war's
OVEYr e

Sure, there's danger. That's not sawdust we're loading
those shells with and when they get next to a Nozi or Nip, boy,
are they going to blow up with a bang§

But they're not going to blow up till they do get over
theres sia ee

I wish everybody around here could see all that's done to
make it safe at Sunflower Ordnance Works. After you've been on
the inside for a while, you know youtfre not going to get hurte I
know now for a fact that there are actually less accidents in my
sort of work than in the average war plant, just because we're
so carcfule

I think people Should know obout this.’ It’s important work
and we need more men. Women, too, I don't mind admitting Im
pretty proud to be working at Sunflower Ordnance Works. LIvery
shell we load is going to land right on top of some Jap or Nazh.
