‘Halle, Germany Thrus 5i ‘May 45 ‘Dear dae Allien, a I want to write to you wainiy to express my appreciation to you for sending me a copy of the Rebounds. I think that it's a great piece of reading material. It is sometning which I wanted to receive when you first published it but since 1 thought that it was primarily for 'your boys’ I was hesitant to ask for it. And, I'm definitely dooxing forward to more of it now that I've had a taste of the cake. Perhaps, Dad has told you that I am on my way home--not to stay ‘‘ I'm sure but at least for a visit. Ome of the highiights of my journey through I hope wili be the Hili. Undoubtedly there nave been a lot of changes there since I saw it iast. I'm anxious to see the ~ new chapel. And, having the old shack Gown which used to be west of the Engineering buiiding shouida be a big improvement. It's going to be @ard to wait for that oid Hitt to show up on the horizon. Those Jenene athletes are always something tor me to watch and read about. That victory of ours over NU in football wasn't so startling, but after forty some years a feilow had to let of a cer- tain amount of steam. I was ready to fight after reading the account of the Aggie football game, but then you ana the round-ballers gave us sweet revenge in the victory at Aggieiand. re ‘That fight you gave us for the Big Six flag was a thrilling onw. Nearly*everyday I looked in the Stars and Stripes for a KU victory. | I was a bit disappointed when IS took us into camp in that last game. However, I'd rather be beaten by them thatn any other Big Sixer. By the way, I was in Duren, Germany the night I received the score of that game. I feit much better after that night when I dreamed that we swamped them 75-14. That's tne way I like to beat them. We have been playing softball around here in tne evenings. A good bit of the time we iet the work slide to get out to the games on time. Some of the fellows around here are very good players. Tne team I've been playing with has been fortunate enough to be one of the best around here. A few nights ago we played an officer team for the championship and a $75.00 pot. Our boys were a bit too sure.of themselves and lacked that fighting spirit. We lost the game <-0. Stiil, I'm positive that we have the. better team though I aamit that victories are sounder proofs than opinions. #/ I'm not sure what the T. P. Hunter memoriai fund is; but with- / out looking I kmow that it is something good. T. P. was one of the finest fellows I ever new. If I get back there I intend to add my bit to the fund. Until I get to see you personally, good iuck to am and all the Jayhawkers. Sincerely,
