PARK COLLEGE PARKVILLE, MO. Jan.ecl, 1945 BUREAU OF GOVERNMENT RESEARCH CHARLES W. SMITH. JR., DIRECTOR br. Forrest Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog; This letter is to convey my writte thanks to you for the pass and good seat that I received through your courtesy at the game in Kansas City. I really had a good view of the action. It is also to offer condolence for the defeat last night. You really gave them a battle and should have won except by that miracle shot that Hines made. Those impossible shots do accur in the game as you know; they are hard to take but nice to receive. We fans here, several from K.U. did get a thrill when we read that you had defeated Missouri, especially I did after seeing your team lose in the city. In addition, being a true K.U. son, I would rather see you defeat M.U. than any other school-I may have to keep silent on this soon. Well, you are still in the race. I expect that 0.U. luck to play out and to hear of them losing two more games-one to you at lewrence, and one at Ames, and possibly at Missouri. Just keep your boys “knocking™ and they magfinish yet on top. | I hope to see some game at Lawrence if one falls on Saturday. Regerdless though, I am still "pulling" for you and the team. Yours sincerely, J.V. Frederick P.S. Park's V-12s are doing well with eight victories in nine games; best was a 41 to 40 win here after losing an earlier game ~ with the Olathe Clippers. Gammill was in- elgible two weeks but is in again; Elliot is really a Big Six caliber guard-hails from Tilinois, and Nidwald from East High in the city could aid you too after the war.
