Dr. Forrest C. Allen Director of Physical Education & Recreation and Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach 105 R. Campus. Dear "Phog": I greatly appreciated your note of December 16. It was just another demonstration of your generous thoughtfulness. As a matter of fact, I felt that I owed you and the members of the basketball team an expression of thanks for the delightful time that I had in making the trip with you to Dodge City. It was so thorough- ly enjoyable that it was really a vacation trip for me. I also appreciated the last paragraph of your let- ter, although I was inclined to reply immediately that my aggressive foot seemed to have put just about the necessary weight on the accel- erator to insure that we reached Lawrence in time for your basketball rehearsal at three o'clock that afternoon. On the other hand, I dis= covered a day or two later that I had worn a hole through the sole of my right shoe while the left sole was perfectly intact. So I decided that there might be some justification for your warning. In any case, I discovered that a certain big black Buick was close behind me all the way, except when it was setting the pace out in front. Cordially yours Wool. haer~, Director. HGI: jb P.S. I had hoped very much that I would have an opportunity to see the boys perform in their first conference game this winter. But I am leaving today for a four-day conference in Memphis so will not have an opportunity to see the team in action un- til the 24th. But I am hoping to be in Lawrence on that day. But even - h I am not present in the auditorium, I shall be rooting for you an Ae on. And I am confident that the first game will result in a victory for our boys, regardless of whether or not Tucker is in the 0.U. line-up. hawoas
