February <8 ,1939 Mr. Forrest C.Allen Coach of Sasketball University of Sansas Dear Phog, At the time of the National &ssn. of Basketball Coeaches meeting in Vhicago last spring we discussed the possibilities of your K.U. basketball team making an eastern trip in the near future. Does the 1939-40 season seem to you an approprdate time for such a trip? I am working on the schedule for Madison Square Varden and Convention Hall in Philadelphia and if you are contemplating a trip would not like te go so far as to make it impossible to schedule you. We plan to run two nights in Philadel- phia and three nights in the Garden during the week between Christmas and New Year's and also will probably have Oklahom Aggies here on the weekend of December 16, so there would be plenty of opportunity for you to make the trip without: losing any time from classes. How will your team windup this season? We so seldom get any scores from your section that it is difficult to keep track of matters. If you win the Big Six title will your team compete in the NCAA tournament? Alien; c/o University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog: will you please ask the boys to save us five tickets for the Missouri-Kansas game tomorrow night. We will be in Lawrence before 7 o'clock and will pick them up at the ticket window. We really prefer the temporary seats on the floor in front of the regular seats, if such are available. We like our basket ball close. You have certainly had your run of tough luck this year, but we believe that Wednesday night will turn the tide for you. IT had a letter from Al and he said he say you boys in action against Oklahoma the other night, aid he said they just simply couldn't miss, and I guess that was the case both there and up at Lincoln last Saturday night. Maybe one of these nights Kansas will have one of those nights. At least we are still pulling for you and will be in Lawrence to help you out Wednesday night.
