ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (INCORPORATED) Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA January 31, 1940 Dr. Forrest ยข. Allen Director of Physical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doc: I am sorry for the delay in answering your letter, but we have had a pretty full basketball schedule up to date. In regard to higher baskets in basketball, I talked to Bill White, who writes for Associated Press, while we were in New York. Bill is a former Colorado boy and was a friend of mine while I was at Colorado University. He was inter- ested in the idea from a news standpoint. I talked to Nat Holman some about it and believe he might be in favor of a higher goal, although he wants to talk shorter courts. I really believe the eastern coaches have not given it much thought. Personally, I would like to have higher goals to keep the big man out from under the basket and give the good shooter a chance, From all indications, it looks like we will have a fine crowd the night you bring your basketball team to Stillwater. Looking forward to seeing you February 15, I am Sincerel ay. H * Pe Tba Director of Athletics. HPI:RS
