OFFICE OF THE PHYSICAL TRAINING OFFICER ARMY AIR FIELD HERINGTON, KANSAS 10 October 1945 Dr. Forrest Allen, Basketball Coach, Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Sir: With the inectivation of this base, one of mv last official duties is indeed a@ pleasant one and affords me the opportunity of personally thanking you for vour splendid efforts on our behalf. Though we did not play your team in basketball last year, our lads alweys figured that they could have extended your boys and I think they live in the mental illusion that they might have been on top. Since your club had whipped us twice previously, they were aching for another try but circumstances vrohibited this. I know that vlaying your fine teams meant a great deal to them and made our tour of duty in Kansas, one of pleasant memory. If ever you are in New York City and do not look me un through the New York Board of Education, I shall come charging out here and it will have to be water pistols at twenty vaces. Be assured of the fields appreciation of all vour coonveration and the splendid verformance of your team here. Ssiense eo i INCENT og Canpt., A r to Physical TYng. 0,
