that after about four months I would be rotating home and be in a good position to get away but I figured without consulting the boys in Europe and since they have wound things up there, rotation will soon cease. Was sure glad the war finally ended in one section although it may take some time to see the complete finish. IT have put in 21 months here so I'm ready to see the moving orders any time. When I was stationed in Burma, I was in one place about a month that had a basketball court rigged up with lights and had an eleven team league going. Played four nights a week and the games were well attended every night. I got to referring several games an week and had one good experience to report. One evening while waiting for the second game to ak which I was going to work, I overheard a fellow with a Brooklyn accent relating some basketball experiences and I caugt the word Kansas so I eavesdropned on the conversation. He was telling a group of friends about how he had made an All-American from Kansas look like a raw rookie. I was immediately interested so broke into the talking by asking the Kansas's man's name. It was one I had never heard before but I remained silent and heard him finish his sory. Upon taking the court to start the ball game, I notice this fellow is to play on one of the teams. Naturally Ikept an eye on him all through the game and soon saw he was strictly all talk. After the game, 1 app- roached him and patting him the, back, remarked "bud, you couldn't even play intramural ball at Kansas". He immediately knew what I was referring to and started to back track but I never gave him a chance and _ really told him off. Anybody talking about Kansas doesn't neéd to say anything about Kansas that is not true to me because I'm always ready to back Kansas in anything. I'm like the Brooklyn fans, its okay to mention the bad spots among loyal rooters But just let some outsider say one word and we're all¥ over him from all sides.
