HEADQUARTERS SEVENTH SERVICE COMMAND, SOS, Office of the Civilian Components Officer, Omaha, Nebraska, August 9, 1942. Professor Forrest C. Allen, Department of Physical Education, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Professor Allen: There was sent to the University, by telegram last Thursday, its quotas for the enlistment in the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps of its qualified students. This telegram was followed the next day by a letter giving details. Under this authorization you should be able to take care of your man Black, to whom reference was made in your letter of August 3rd, and deserving as a member of your basketball team. Incidentally, I trust that you have your usual outstanding team. I have not seen your brother since the days he was at Fort $111, when we talked much of you and your leadership in the development of basketball. In fact, I havn't the slightest idea where he is stationed at the present time, but I know wherever it may be, he is doing a fine job. From this you can gather that I am a fan. ry cordially yo W. BRIGGS, Colonel, Field Artiile Civilian Components Officer.
