DAVIS, SUPERINTENDENT EDITH C. KOHL, PRINCIPAL ST. PETER, MINN. October 28, 1940 Dr. Forrest Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr, Allen: I was very pleased to hear from you and appreciate your interest in my problems given to you by Jim Raport. I am sorry that I could not reply sooner because of my football duties. Jim and I had a great time at camp and cannot say enough which would cover Jim's fine personality. It was the zone defense which I had in mind when I spoke to Jim, but he apparently thought it was a man to man defense. We, here in our league, play many zone defenses on small courts. They have used many different types against us but the one that bothers us most is where they freeze three men under the basket. We haven't been a long shooting team and as a result they have tried to stop our setups which has forced us somewhat to shoot angle and corner shots, I have both of your books which have been very helpful to me and will review your latest on what you have written on the zone. If you should have anything special concerning my oe: here I wrould appreciate a tip.
