Dear Sir:

This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of
June 12th. As per request, I am sending to you under separate
cover some material which might help you in organizing your summer
playground program for boys and girls.

If you have any financial assistance, I would suggest
that you purchase soft balls and volley ball equipment. If there are
cement sidewalks available, mark them off for as many sidewalk games
as possible, such as hop scotch, kick shuffle, shuffle board, sidewalk
tennis, and the like. A paper bound book, "Recreation Games and Sports"
can be purchased from Lowe & Campbell, Athletic Goods Company, Kansas
City, Missouri, for twenty five cents and will be very helpful to you
on these games.

Have the children bring materials and make some equipment
for quietgames. The Chicago Park District, Chicago, Illinois, has
material in this field which will be helpful. hen writing ask for the
price list of their modern recreation series.

As a means for finding out what the children would like
to do most, you might use a check list; for example, list all of the
activities you could offer and have the children indicate which ones
they would like to do most. Also, ask them to suggest other activities.
Try to include some less active games in your program such as art or
nature projects, story telling, hobby shows, etc.
