‘Bowl and Keep Fit’ , Telephone 872 Plymouth Bowling Center West LaPorte Street PLYMOUTH, INDIANA Dec. 29, 1939 Dr. Forrest Cc. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Phog: I haven't heard from you for so long that [I thought I[ had better drop you a line and see if you were still on earth. Believe it or not, I have quit the road and am now running a bowling alley. For the last few years I have been trying to figure out what [ could do to make a living and not have to travel. Kathering and her brother had a dandy big building nere in Plymouth and so we got together, remodied it. and sunk about 20 thousand in the building and six of the best, Brunswick alleys anda most modern equipment. Have all indirect lighting and washed air heat. It really is a beautiful setup and is going over big. Am wondering if Kansas has any Athletic Scholerships. That young son of mine has finally stopped growing at 6feet 3 in. and is developing into a nice basket ball player. I believe by next year, which will be his senior year in High School, he will really be good. He takes basket ball very seriously and has kept himself in perfect shape. He even refuses to go out with girls as it would keep nim out late and ne figures that is bad. As to his standing in studies he surly is not like his father. He has been on the Honor Roll ever since he has been in High School and the last semester had the highest standing in the whole school so he must take after his mother. He wants to study Law but that will come later as [I would like to send him Bast for his work in that. Drop me a line when you have time and be sure and say "Hello" to Mrs Allen for me. Wishing you and yours a very happy NEW YEAR, I aa, Fraternally yours, ALLEYS
