Allen Director of Physical Education & Recreation University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: Thanks for your letter of January Sth. I am sending in Bill's appli- cation in the course "Foods and Nutrition" this morning, This is our first trial with him to determine just where he stands on his memory. He seems to be reasonably near normal but since he had a total loss of memory, we want to approach any schooling very Slowly and carefully. I will take your letter to the house and read it tothe boy at noon, I know he will appreciate the remarks you have made and I certainly appreciate them too, He seems to be doing very nicely and will apparently have a full re- covery in every respect other than his vision. It is problematical to the full amount of visional return, but there is every indication there will be enough to enable him to get around by himself reasonably well. Due to the fact that he has always been in pretty good shape physically and due to the fact that he is just 18, his recovery has been mech better than the Doctors anticipated, so we figure he may go quite a bit beyond their present prognosis on the vision. I notice that you did pretty well against Oklahoma the other night and assume you will have taken care of the boys in Chicago by the time this letter reaches Lawrence. I hope that I can get up to one of the — later on in the spring as I certainly enjoy seeing your boys work, :
