Dear Mr. Allen,

I am hereby making application for a job as life guard
and swimming instructor at the University of Kansas swimming
pool for the coming vacation period. I was told in an inter-
view iwth you, April 26, that this position was open.

I am 25 years old,height 6 feet, weight 180 pounds, and
in excellent health.

I recieved my A.B. degree in chemistry January, 1938, and
I am now working toward my Master's degree in chemistry. ,
This summer I plan to work in the State Water Laboratory ,having
my afternoons and evenings free.

I have worked two years as life guard and instructor for
Mr. Allphin in the University Pool, and during the summer
months I have been employed at the WichitaMunicipal Beach as
life guard, swimming instructor, and examiner for the Junior and
Senior classes for the last seven years. Mr. P. Ben Way,
848Porter, Wichita Kansas , is manager of the pool. I have
a Red Cross Examiner's Badge and have also worked for the Wichita
Y.M.C.A. as swimming instructor.
