Palo Alto, california July .22,1959 pr. .€ eAllen, Kansas tniversity, Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr.Allen, Just a word to thank you again for your very nice letter of recommendation to the Stanford officials. That really is a help in a new situation. I haven't seen your brother as yet but will soon now that I'm about even with the assignment schedule of the hard pressing professors. An "A" is about the only grade condoned out here and you know what that means for leisure time activities the education people talk about. John Bunn has been great to work with and so has Dr. Esslinger.who was Dr.Elbel's teammate at Iowa. I really think I'd like to do.doctorate work if I could find that much money and-if the Graduate committee will O.K. me,which is more to the point. Dr.Storey seems to think my qualifications thus far are satisfactory. The decision does not have to be made this summer, however. IT hear very good reports in these parts about Mr.DeGroot. He has anexcellent reputation here. Mr.Moll of Kansas State is here this summer finishing his doctor's degree. Also a former K.U. man.Dave Wright, who used to be quite a ball player. He is in Oregon now. Said he was working on his master's degree. t This.a great country in the summer. Seems like a coat is comfortable most any time of the day. We are just far enough back from the coast to be free from the fogs and still be in the cool sea breezes. Many thanks fer the boost and if I get up the nerve I'll barge in your brother's office and call him "pete". Very sincerely yours S.ReHukle
