408 Avenue “4™ Elk City, Oklahoma April 13, 1939 PERS ONAL Dre Forrest Ce Allen Athletic Department University of Kansas lawrence, Kansas Dear Dre Allen: Since leaving Lawrence in 1926 I have been constant= ly aware of a deep affection for that towm and K. Ue There recently occurred to me a means of returning to that locality which has become increasingly appealinge The objective I have in mind is employment in the Business Section of the Athletic Department of the University of Kansase This possi= bility is doubly inviting because of my more than common interest in athletics in generale Please understand that I do not mean to ask your intervention in my behalf. I do, however, request the favor of your informed advice as a friend, which I hope is not being too presunptiouse Yom suggestions as to whom to con= tact, procedure to follow, and qualifications necessary, as well as any incidental information available, will be sin= cerely appreciated. I am not particularly dissatisfied with my present employment in the Soil Conservation Service of the U. Se Department of Agriculture, but as I said above, I have always yearned for an opportunity to return to Lawrence. However, I feel that my association with the detail and thorough accuracy required in this work, as well as the practical experience in Property recording and management, and in Procurement, might be of value in the extensive property activities which must be present in an Athletic Department of such consequences Please give my very kindest regards to Mrse Allene I think of "the Allens" often, always with respect and esteame Your convenience in replying to this letter will be respected. Very respectfully yours, f y y “ . e/ Robert C. Hickson.
