| I was delighted to hear from you, but I am afraid that you
are more optimistic than I am regarding the Big Six championship. ;

Iowa. State is the toughest team that I lmow of to lick up there and

we have three badly crippled boys. Kirk Scott sprained an ankle
severely here in scrimmage Monday, and Gordon Reynolds has a bruised

hip that is slow to heal, and Charlie Moffett has a couple of charley-

horses. And they all came about in Monday's serimmage against the
second team. on ee ere ?

- It scemed as if the second stringers were imbued with the
theory of annihilation, but if they had taken it ous on some other
team, I would have been happy. It might have been due to the tension

while they were waiting for the Kansas State-Iowa State game Monday
night, but whatever it was, they tore into each other like a pack of
bulldogs. And naturally the varsity is not playing against second

stringers as strenuously as the second stringers played against the
vareity, so the three key men came cut second best. oe

2 Herbert Heim has had synovitis, which we call “water on the
knee", for the past two weeks and as he is not a rugged fellow this ©
works against the rough going that we anticipate at Iowa State. Fire-
book is a big, rugged forward, and Mott and Block are tougher than 4
boot. ‘They are big, aggressive farmer boys and they make the going
tough up thers. wie might do the impossible, but I am not too eptimistic.
_ - However, I think the boys have done wonderfully well considering what
they started with and how they have hung on. ss,

: I am glad to hear from Jim. Won't you give ma his Army
address? I am not sure what you have given me will reach him, and I
will send him the Jayhawk Rebounds and keep in touch with him. then
you ask for the oopy of the 1944-45 Jayhawker do you mean the yearbook —
which just comes out two or three times a year, their regular annual,
or the Kansan, which is the paper, or do you mean the Jayhawk Rebounds

brochure that I mimeograph for the boys overseas? |

| I am sending you the only print of a picture that we have
of Jimay. Pictures are very difficult to obtain as the film is next .
to impossible to be had. Most photographers have gone out of business,

a
