Dear Friend:

For some time we have been anticipating the pure
chasing of 400 new Methodist hymnals for use in our worship
servicese Some solicitatiom has been made by the members of
the Harmony Circle, but at present money for only 115 hymnals
has been contributed.

The simple plan we are using is this: We are aske
ing members of the Church to buy one to ten of these books at
$1.00 each and give them to the Church. The donors may have
these hymnals dedicated to any one they desire or merely have
their own names inscribed within them as the personal cone
tributorse Some have subscribed for five or ten copies each,
and many others have given one or two, If you have not
answered this call, will you come to Church on Sunday morning
prepared to say how many_hymn books you will purchase and
present to the Church? It ought to be no trouble at all to
secure a gift of 400 hymnals in a Church the size of ours,
but the response so far has not been what we expected.

The present hymnal which we are using Was publish»
ed thirty=two years ago. The new book which we hope to buy has
many of the newer hymns and in addition to this, the words
appear between the music scores making the hymns more easily
reade Last Sunday morning 1 saw a half dozen books being used
by those in the front pews and every one of them had either
one or both covers gone. There are a few good books left and
these will be used by our young people's departments, an a
few will be taken out to Haskell for our Methodist group theres

We will look for your voluntary contribution for
hymn books on Sunday. After that the young women will continue
their personal solicitation, If they come to see you, please
give them a hearing and a subscription for one or more booksSe
We are setting NOVEMBER 1 as the date upon which we hope to
order the new books but we will not order them until we have
the money to pay for theme
