It eeataky is the best and most extensive digest of todays basketball. Your pook follows very closely thé demonstration that you gave at summer schoollat Spirit Lake, Iowa, last year. I hope that I may attend one of your schools this coming summer. We are enjoying another great team at Blue Earth; perhaps one of the best in the state. I am interested in seeing a member of this team work under you. His name is Burton Bell- eson. Many schools have approached wim to attend their instit- itutions, but I feel I gould be a big factor in his final sel- ection. I believe Wade Green will bear out my selection of good ball players, and I believe Bellesonis one of the best boys I have oonened in the past ten years. He. is 6'2", weighs about 170 and has smooth quick action. He id a clever ball handler and a good shot with either hand. He is at present one of the states high scorers. He not only can score but is also good on defense. We use an assigned man to man defense and Belleson always draws the big good man. He is not only a ~ .. e L.R. Pemberton, Superintendent George L. Dear Phog: Ed Crane, George Gardner, coach of Southwestern College, and myself and another fellow want to go down to see the Kansas-Oklahoma Basketball Game. First of all I was getting ready to write a check for some tickets down there and I am just wondering if you couldn't put us fellows on your team so that we could get in. A fellow once told me there wasn't any use in , having friends unless you can use them so I am trying it out. If you can't perform, say so, and I will send you more basket- ball players ever chance I get and I would also like to know when you are going through here. Whether you are going to Stay in Oklahoma City or Norman. In fact, I would like to. See you and talk to you. I didn't get to up to the Southwestern last month when you were down there as you seemed to be so damned popular with the women that I couldn't even get close to you. Allen, Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Phog; Thought you might be interested in knowing just how your radio basket ball dramatization was received by the radio sudience. I, for one, was a very interested listener. I thought the material snd the manner in which it was presentedwere of the highest order. I could just close my eyes sand visuslize the prospective new student in your office, receiving fatherly advice from you. Also Had a mental picture of your blaeck-board talk snd session on fundamentals that was briefly portrayed in the gymnasinn. From this point the listener was very smoothly carried in to the suditorium where the game was presented. I could visualize the packed auditorium and your boys performing snd carrying out your plans to perfection. Was also very much impressed with the intermission pep- talk. Again I could just see the group of perspiring basketeers behind closed doors, listening to your instructions snd corrections, and finally the howling audience, carrying on through to the victory. I was very much impressed with the manner your boys de- livered their parts, to the radio listener it appeared ss though each performer was ad libbing, but of course I do not believe they were. Let me take this opportunity, Phog, to thank you for the service you rendered me when you recently adjusted my leg injury. Have been able to fill 911 engagements on my schedule thus far. Of course, the knee appears to be wesk snd there is still some Swelling but believe when I get off my feet and give it a rest it will be okay.
