However, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the contribution you made to our program. It is too pad that the State Regional Tournaments conflicted with*program ‘ as many coaches would have attended otherwise. I am sorry that the other coaches over the state missed the instructional material. Again I want to thank you for your work and I hope that I may be able to return the favor in some way. Mr. Gilbert Swenson, our telegraph editor and a grad of K.U., wants to see your Missouri game ,March 5, I believe it is, and asked me if I would ask you for tickets. He wants to take his wife and daughter with him. Hesitate to ask for that many tickets when 1 might want a pair for myself, but since we have not asked for any tickets this year oe you might not mind. May I extend congratulations to you on the fine record you have made with a comparatively green team. I was certain, from the start, that Kansas had as good a chance as any team in the Big Six to win the title, and my views are being confirmed. Incidentally, I don't think I ever have extended thanks for the copy of your new basketball book, which Imenjoyed very mech, and which I reviewed. The publishers — me to send them a copy of the review, but in rush of activities, I'm afraid I didn't get it done. Possibly I can find when I ran it and still send $hem a copy. I'm certain of one thing, that is that the book is the best of its kind I ever have seen on any college sport. You are to be congratulated on presenting a volume that contains so much for the coach, the fan and the player. HOSFORD IN VESTMENT COMPANY REAL ESTATE, LOANS, INSURANCE Director of Physical Edusation, 1902 East Third Street Bloomington, Indiana March 8, 1938 Dr. Forest C. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I have recently completed a survey of the medical supervision of candidates for High School Athletic teams as required by the organizations controlling athletics in the respective states. Most of the states do nothing about it. Others have, for the most part, and entirely inadequate and superficial medical inspection. I am attempting, with the aid of a group of phy- sicians who are familiar with the problems of Athletics, to formulate a suitable blank for the medical examination of High School Athletes. On the enclosed sheets I have ligtéd the most common elements in the medical examination of Public School Boys, together with a scale for rating then. As I have stated, I am circularizing a small group of ohysicians who are qualified by their experience and in- terest in athletics to express an opinion and for this reason if would appreciate your cooperation in completing and return- ing the blank to me at your earliest convenience. Respectfully yours, a. hee (THIS SIDE OF CARDYSHQRGBBRESS } a ae se Dr. Forrest Cc.
