January 21, 1959 Rie Ce G. Bayles Superintendent of Bldg. & Grounds University of Kansas Dear lr, Bayles: Mire Longs ) Supervises a group of Boy’ Scouts, has as use of the ent Gymasiun for a cou le of hours Saturday morning. He . brought | group of boys up e couple of weeks ago and supervised their activites, We are per= mitting him to use it again this week. The reason I am writing you is to show you ’ the need for a place for these boys, not only of High School age but also of Grade School age to have a place during the day time for supervised play. This further subdstentiates our argument that the High School gymesiun should be kept open Saturday and evenings. | Our gymnasium has been infested with . boys this winter. I do not mean to liken youngsters to rodents but they dart in and out on * all three fioors of the disturbing the play, and practice of our university students. They b their own basketball ahoot at the baskets they get a chance to dart in, I just wanted to give you $his added infore mation about our problem at ae gymnasiume Sincerely yours, 3 pisectes of mais 3 hientiion | Varsity Basketball Coach PCA :EEH
