6 CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS CONSTITUTION | of the KANSAS STATE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION ARTICLE I Name This organization shall be known as the Kansas State High School Activities Association. ARTICLE II Purpose The purpose of the Association is to approve, promote, develop and direct activities and contests among its member schools in Athletics, Music, Forensics and Debate, Typing, Scholarship and any other activities which the member- ship may desire to sponsor. This purpose is to be attained through a plan of unification in the administration of these activities and contests without destroying the identity of any individual activity. ARTICLE III Membership Section 1. Any public accredited high school in the state of Kansas may become a member of this Association by its principal—the term “principal” as used throughout shall be construed to mean the executive officer of the high school—subscribing to the rules of the Association, and by the payment of the annual dues for each member as hereinafter provided. The term “high school” shall be interpreted to include the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades. NOTE: Hither the principal or superintendent may be the official repre- sentative, according to the policy of the individual school. Sec. 2. Any approved junior high school may become a member of this Association by its principal subscribing to the rules of the Association, and by the payment of the annual dues as hereinafter provided. Sec. 3. In schools not maintaining approved Junior High Schools, teams may be organized from the seventh, eighth and ninth grades, or any division of those grades, and enrolled in this Association, for athletic purposes only, as Junior High Schools. Schools enrolling in this Association under the pro- visions of this section shall be subject to the Junior High School regulations. Sec. 4. A private school of secondary rank may apply to the Board of Control for admission and, upon payment of dues and the fulfillment of the requirements designated by the Board of Control, shall be admitted to mem- bership. Sec. 5. Each school in joining the Association expressly agrees not to contest with schools which are under suspension from the Association by the Board of Control, under the powers given in Article 6, Section 1, or with schools of other states which are similarly suspended from the associations of
