The Portland High School Ath- letic Association new rules are now in effect controlling eligibility in all branches of athletics. The most important changes are the elimination of academic scholarship requirements for participation in athletics, lowering the age limit to 19 years, limiting the length of time of prac- tice periods, elimination of out--ofSeason practices and the clas&icying of tne teams for competition according to age, height, and weight. By these rules athletics are now recog- nized as a phase of physical education and therefore an integral part of the surricu- lum.
