Dear Dr. Allen:
Just another note in regard to Earl ene star ga iawell High School
athlete. Hate to Maes harping on the same note, but feel that he is
an exceptionally fine prospect, and that K.U. cannot aetord to let him
get away. 7 ae ,
Talked to him over the weekend, and he said that he had eacetved &
form from Athletic Director Quigley to be filled out. Gathered however
that he has received no personel word from you as yet. I think such a
letter would be particularly helpful in bringing him to Lawrence. As 1
told you previously, certain Kansas State alumni are sttcetbine to
interest him in attending that school.

Had the opportunity last Friday night of seeing him perform as the
caldwell team (with only three lettermen back from last year) upset the
S.K.Le league-leaders and favorites, Anthony High School, 7,40 °0,. ° The
boy did about everything that could possibly be done on the gridiron.

He completed 11 of 14 passes (one of them for the lone touchdown of the
ie intere=pted 9 pass to stop Anthony's only serious threat, ripped
the Anthony line apart for consistent gains on the ground, and tackled
in a manner that reminded me of Ray EVans « He runs very fast for a
big man, and has already mastered the knack of spinning as he goes thru
the hole. ) : | |

_ Also saw him play basketball last coun. Whe he shows great promise
in that sport. |

I don't believe you would be making a mistake as you taok ex=

ceptional interest in this boy. I have been following Arkansas Valley
football this fall, and have yet. to see a boy in that fast circuit who
possesses Price's natural football talent.
