Dear Sirs
Enclosed you will find our schedule of basketball
games for 1944-1945.
We have open dates that we would like to have your team
as an opponent for either Norman Naval Air Base or Herington
TRS NA GR a RN RSL i A a SO OS
Army Air Base. We also have an open date on February <4, as %
an opponent, Phillips "66". ‘
If either of these two dates meet with your approval, :
please inform us and we will be glad to submit our financial ;
program to yous We would appreciate your immediate answer :
as we are holding these dates open pending your reply. #
We also have a chance to book your team for the pre- e
liminary game to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship :
Tournament. As your opponent, we have permission to book y
you against Oklahoma A. and M, We believe that a team of :
your caliber and the team Mr. H. P. iba will have would be i
a very great drawing power in Kansas City. It would be a :
natural, "Allen vs. Iba", We have had the consent of "Hank" ;
Iba and he said that "there is nothing I would rather do than :
to have Kansas University as an opponent". We would consider
this a challenge for your team to play him on that night.
reenact
At your earliest convenience, we would appreciate
your reply.
Yours truly,

Capt. H. L. Kirkpatrick, M. C.,
Station Hospital, |
Familton Pield, California.
Dear Dr. Kirkpatrick:
I was mighty happy to have your letter saying that you enjoyed
the Rebounds. I wish you might have been here to see some of our -
basketball games. The kids are not terribly hot, but we have been
able to limp along to a near tie. If Kansas State beats Iowa State
tonight at Manhattan, we will get at least a tie for it, but if —
Louie Menze's boys beat the Aggie cousins I am afraid we will be in
for a tough time at Ames on Priday night, Maroh 2nd.
They are liable to lick us up there because we do not have a
finished ball club, and Iowa State is tougher than a cowpuncher's
boot, on their own floor.
We are making the change of your address to Station Hospital,
Hamilton Field, California. I am hoping to write another Rebounds
this week so you should have it before too long.
It is always good to hear, from you, and I assure you that we
will be looking forward to the time when you are back with us.
With all good wishes, I am

Mr. Mou Hui King,
1240 S. 77th St.,
West Allis 14, Wiso.
- Dear Mou Hui:
Fred Ellsworth conveyed to me your very nice greeting
and complimentary remarks, and I assure you I appreciate them
very much. 3
' It was very nice of Bill Chandler, Marquette's coach,
to say the things he did. 84111 coached in our conference for
a number of years, having been at Iowa State College seven to
ten years back in the twenties. He has been very successful
at Marquette, and I am glad to see him doing so well.
I am sending you a copy of our last month's Jayhawk
Rebounds and trust that there will be something in it that you
will enjoy. I am sure you will remember some of the boys.
| -
Fred tells me that you are expecting to be on the campus
some time in March and we will be very happy to say hello to you.

With all good wishes for your continued success, I am

Dear Max and Maroile:
Permit me and Mre. Allen to extend our sincerest wishes
to you ‘oth on this very wonderful occasion. |
I am writing for Mre. Allen to tell you both that when
you are settled we are going to give you something for your home
that you will really enjoy. We do not know what it is at the present
time, nor do we know where you will be lodated, but we will not for-
get you, I assure you. Our own family are so much upset at the
present time due to war emergencies that we can appreciate the un-
certainty of home building at the present time.
However, we are very hopeful on account of the favorable
war news coming in, and wé hope that it will not be long wtil you
will be able to pick a spot that you can oall your own permanently.
Yay ‘I wish for you both a long, happy and prosperous |
wedded life. And the most important thing of all is the happiness
that we wish for you.

DESCRIPTION OF KINNICK HALL
Located on the athletic area on the west side of the
U, S, Naval Air Station, Olathe, Kas,, Kinnick Hall houses
a large gymnasium or drill hall and wimming pool, In ad-
dition to athletic events, indoor personnel inspections
and reviews are held in the hall,
The building is named for Ensign Nile Clarke Kinnick,
