Dear Fred:

Spring is sprung and that makes me all the more homesick for
Ke Ue especially the lilacs on the campus, and the times spent
just in front of the dorm tossing and batting the ball arounde

I got the Graduate Magazine today. I am glad that we have a
T. Pe Hunter Memorial Fund started. Although I never did get to
know T. P. personally, I have watched him on the basketball court
and together with the feeling that our great athlete sacrificed
his life fighting for security in the Pacific, 1 hope you won't.
find a $5.00 gift from me too small. I have a check enclosed
in this letter.

Sorry that Iowa State got the Big Six championship. But 1
truly respect Phog for what he said as I read it in the Kansan
about Iowa State getting the championship. He is truly a great
coach and a great man in generale By the way I got a letter
from him confirming your sending him a copy of my last lettere
Enclosed was a copy of the Jayhawk Reboundse Altho written
primarily for service men, I was interested to know the whereabouts
of out athletes. Too bad I didn't remember the name of the

Marquette coach that I mentioned in my letter.

If my work schedule comes out OK, I'll be in Lawrence about
the 9th or 10the I'll be in Minneapolis to see some Chinese
friends of mine and to be initiated into a Chinese fraternal or-
ganization, the Phi Lambda, or in Chinese (#2244 ). You may
be able to make this out better if you can't read the name in
English’ I'll probably take the Rocket from Minneapolis and get
to Lawrence about 10:00 Pe Me I'll be in to see you either
Monday or Tuesday morning. However, if another job comes along,

I may have to be back at work Monday morning. You see Fred, we

get these design jobs all of a sudden like without knowing about

it before hande I am now working on steam condensers for power
stations. There is nothing secret about my work, and what we are
doing, the Germans and the Japs also use approximately the same thing.
After all, power stations are not a direct war weapon, but defense
plants just won't run without power.

Give my best regards to Mrs. Richardson and also to the rest
of the faculty you happen to meet and get to talking. Will be
seeing you soone
