Slater, Missouri March 2%, 1943 Dr. F. C. Allen Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doctor: I appreciated very much the opportunity of visiting with you recently in Columbia. Congratulations upon another of many fine ball clubs, and upon the Helms Foundations Award. As yet, the wife and I have not heard a word from the Barneys, Drs. Ester and Mason, but I'll drop you a few lines as soon as we hear and let you know their address. Doctor, Ann Scipes, the daughter of one of my friends is soon graduating from high school and is planning to study to become a laboratory technician. However, she would like to enroll at Kansas University during this coming summer term as a special student and take anatomy and chemistry, preparatory to the technician course. However, there is something of a financial problem to be met. I.was wondering if you could perhaps obtain a part time job for her éither on the campus, or with some business firm. She has taken typing and shorthand and is well qualified to do both, she also has had experience in a drug store and soda fountain. Anything which you could do to help this girl obtain this portion of her education would be greatly appreciated by her, and a big favor to me. Please let me know at your earliest convenience what help can be given in this case. In closing, my wife extends her best personal regards. Fraternally, — E. LZ Kon
