Dear Dr. Allen:

I am making an application for a commission in the
Navy as a recreation and welfare officer and have given your
name as one of my references as one who has known me for a
good many years, I thought I had better bring you up to date
on my activities as it has been some time since I have seen

you.

As you recall, I was at Warrensburg from 1933-1935
as physical education instructor and coach. I went from there
to Kansas City where I had six years as teacher of physical
education director of intramurals, and for the past two years
have been Assistant Director of Recreation here in Madison.

I am sorry I did not get to see you when I was in
Lawrence in the spring and hope on the next trip out that I
will have the opportunity of talking with you a while.
