Dear Dwight:

rse Alien says I am @ very promising young man or, I
should sey, cold mane She says I will promise e fellow almost
anything but sometimes I do not deliver it. I find thet this
is November 18, ny fifty-fifth birthdey anniversary, and I em
up here at 9:51 tonight dicteting letters when I should be in
bed; but, I cannot get caught up with a mass of correspondence
that seems to accumulate.

: I have before me your letter of October 21 in which you
say, “If you can get your article to me by November 15, I can
get it in the December iseue." Dwight, I thought thet I would
get this in the mail by last Fridey or Seturday but I failed
to do SO.

I am wondering if you can fill in with something else
this month and I will definitely promise you something for the
next issuo. You are such a good scout and efficient editor
that I feel sure you will be able to get along without any
contribution thet I might make. However, if you ere up against
it, please write me and I will send you the article that should
have been wre long before nowe
