il appreciate your expressions of good will as
refiected by the action of the Athletic Board in voting
to bring my salary to the level as promised by the Chancellor
and the Board of Regents five years ago.

i, too, appreciate the difficult financial position
that the board finds itself in and | pledge my continued efforts
of economy in the administration of the sports under my control,

to bring the budget in balance. And too, my hope is that I

shall be worthy of this adjustment, showing by my work and by
my efficiency as well as by my understanding loyalty that I aenire
this well placed trust in me, to continue.
