May 1lth,1939. Dear Mr. Allen:- In reply to your letter, as you know considerable expense was had in establishing our residence in Lawrence for the benefit of our two children, Robert finishing his last year of High School work. ; | I left it up to Robert and his mother to decide during that period, giving it careful thought and study to avoid such problems as are confronting us now. It was his choice as well as his mother's that he proceed in the course he is now taking, knowing that some of our leading men in this line were complete failures same subjects that are Robert's difficulties, with the aid of their teachers finally mastered then. Feel taking your word he has just the two subjects that are failures its useless for him to give up. I am willing to have him go to summer school, take what he is sure of handling and next fall establish our residence again in Lawrence so his mother can be with him helping him. His main fault is rooming with others against our wishes interfering with his studies when he can do better. ; Your interest at heart, am sure you will iron out Robert's difficulties without any changes, perhaps you can line up his studies so he can handle. I have always put it up to Robert, take just enough to be sure he can do justice to his work even if it would take him a year or two longer and be thorough. Trusting we can arrive at some method satisfactory to all, if necessary having a tutor. I remain, Sincerely Yours P.O Row wh
