Principal ALLAN HIBBARD, Greasurer odge ublic Schools HAROLDINE ROESSLER, Secretary Medicine Lodge, Kansas December 19, 1945 Coach Phog Allen Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas Dear Mr. Allen:- I am writing this letter in the strictest confidence. Ata meeting with my board of education sometime ago they made it a ‘must! that I must get a new coach next year. In fact, it is our plan to hire two men one that can handle the football and assist with track and another for basketball who will also assist in track. One of the above men would have two classes in Physical Education. : I am particularly interested in someone that has played under you. I have several requests asking that we get a 'Phog Allen man', so I am writing to you early enough to get it before you. We have a high school of 225 students,24 teachers in the system, total enrollment of around 556 students. We're located about 35 miles south of Pratt. We compete with such teams as Anthony, Caldwell, Harper, Kiowa, Kingman, Pratt, Alva, Coldwater, Greensburg. Up tntil the last two years we ave been able to hold our ow, but lately we have been on the decline. At the present time we are paying $2500.00 for the school year, but we can beat that for a good man that has and can produce. We will consider inexperienced man if he is up and coming. I thought I might drop you this information and if you do know of anyone £ would like to contact hin. With kind personal regards, I am Very truly yours, 4 1 SD errr ned H. C. Van Voorhis HCV/BR
