‘Dear Johns

I thought at best, perhaps, that I write you to tell you that our games will be ~
called at S250 Ps. om Monday and Tuesday, May Sth and Sth. You will hit on our diamond
for the back ground anytime that. you care to come out, wp until 2:55 ofelock. At that
time, I would like for you to take your in-field practice and.we will follow with ours,
then ellow our ground-keeper, six or seven minutes to brush the diamond and get ready
for the ball same.

We have the sane umpires who worked lact year, Doctor Le F. Sice, here in town,
who has worked the games for twelve or fourtesn years, and R. B. Oyler, Justice of the

Peace, snd practicing attorney here in lawrence, I am sure these fellows are about as

fair as two individuals can be, but I'm not sure as to their umpirical eyes because the
sy oom they work are the Kansas ganes here at home.

T tim sorry that we do nk have more’ experienced officials. The eoach at Haskell |
has been wanting to umpire, but it not at 212 sure that he would be as good or any

One of the eink woaknesses in baseball is the securing of competent officials.

The Unpires at Ames made @ correct desision and then changed their decision to an
incorrect one. We erperieuned this situation all. ‘through the two ball ‘games
