FRANCIS, KANSAS The Judy Ranch BRAD JUDY Montrose, Kansas Sept. 10, 1042 Dr. F. C. Ablen, University of Kansas, Lawrance, Kansas. Dear Phogs As you perhaps recall Ted White of Lyons is planning to enroll next week. Ted has had to earn a large part of his living thru high school, and since the death of his father it is going to be entirely up to him and some of the rest of us who are most willing to help, to see that he gets a year or two at K.U. before Uncle Sam calls him. He has ween living at the Phi Psi house this summer and working at thés Hudora defense plant.....this you may know, for you may have been in- fluential in his getting this job. Ted needs a job that will pay him about #10 per month in order for him to make the grade this winter. 1 think the rest of us can make up what- ever else it will take. During his last three years in high school he was employed in the Ghandler National Bank of Lyons....where he served as teller or asst. cashier. Holding this job for this period of time should be evidence that he would make good help in an administrative office where efficiency, dependability and honesty are essential. Furthermore, as you know, he is physically able to do manual work if that sort of a job presented itself. Are there any jobs available in the physical educationdepartment Gor a boy such as he is? If so, we would certainly appreciate hearing about it. Tedhiskhere with us now, but I understand he is going to Lawrence on Saturdays...-if you say the word, I'll send him around. I think that you will find Ted an altogebher different type of boy than was his brother Bob....-.with all due respects to the latter. I doubt if Ted is as flabhy.-....but he is a damn sight more dependable, steady and emotionally balanced. I have never thanked you for offering to write a letter of cangratuaations to each member of my ball team of last year. Someway or other I never got around to accepting....-but 1 appreeaiated it anyway.
