July 3rd, 1941 Mr, T, E, Jones Department of Physical Education for Men University of. Wisconsin Madison, Wisconsin Dear Mr. Jones: I have been intending to write you for months. Ever since the date of the Kansas Relays, I wanted to write you and tell you how sorry I was I missed you and failed to have a chat with you. I was out of town most of the time on business connected with the Depart- ment of Physical. Education. This has to do with speaking at High Schools and ot other banquets, and it seemed that during that time I was out of town prac- tically all of the time that you were in Lawrence. I alwo agreed to coach the Varsity baseball team. And, it occurs to me that we were playing at the University of Oklahoma during that period. Then, when you met Kansas in track after the week-end, I was in Wichita and surrounding towns. So, I missed you. My secretary told me that you dropped into the office to say "hello" and I fully expected to write you immediately. Then Commencement dates came on and I was busy until after | examination time. At a faculty meeting I told Waldemar Geltch that you had been in town and he was terribly grieved that he did not get to see you. He said that somehow he had missed the paper and had not learned of your being here. I'm not sure that you're working during the summer at Madison but presume you are working in place of Guy Loman. I understand from several parties that he is feeling no better. Won't you please convey to him and Mrs. Lohman my very best wishes? : Just the other day we received notice from Miss Blanche M, Trilling, director of the Women's Department of Physical Education in Madison, an announcement of their new course approved by the faculty in June, 1941, for General Major. I'm wondering if the Men's Department had an announcement of their course. I do like to follow the trends in other Institutions. And, if you'll be kind enough to send me an announcement of your course, I1] appreciate it. With kindest personal regards, I an, Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education and Recreation-Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach.
