Dear Miss Hoovers;

On the order which Mr. Mandeville just mailed to us, we have shipped
nine No. N583 Field Hockey sticks. These have been directed to Dr. F. C. Allen,
Robinson Gymmasium, University of Kansas. You should get the package promptly,

After checking our entire stock of these sticks, we found only seven
that agree exactly with the specifications sent in by Mr. Mandeville. These have,
of course, been ineluded in your shipment with two others that are just slightly
off in weight or length, We are inclined to think that you can use the items
shipped but anything that you do not want is returnable for full credit at our
expense.

It is certainly a difficult job to try to get sticks of this kind with
the perfect grain and in exact weights that our customers want, The grain
problem is almost impossible because the toe of these clubs is turned up which
makes it necessary to let the grain run out of the stick somewhere near the end,
You will notice that the siight turn-up at the toe seems to affect the grain in
almost every stick,

The wood in these sticks is not grown in the shape that it is in at
the present time but it is steamed and bent to the proper shape for use in Field
Hockey sticks. All sticks are treated so that they should not splinter or pull
apart within a reasonable period of time,

We certainly hope that the selection made meets with your approval
and will appreciate hearing from you about the clubs,

The clubs have been charged to the school account in the usual way and
credit will be given when the other sticks are returned,
