Carl S. Byers ATTORNEY-AT-LAW 112% EAST IRON AVENUE Salina, ‘Kansas concn reaupane 0/08/40 - Page 2 RES. PHONE 3629 Dre Forrest C. Allen Re: Uhrlaub v. Uhrlaub Journal Entry sent to him by his attorney and if you read this pens cig you will see more clearly what I have been trying to saye This oaaes bkkoes total of $781.73 owing, which is no more or less than what Mr. Uhrlaub agreed to pay less what he actually did paye You are quite right in wanting to know our intentions. We know full well that Mr. Uhrlaub cannot pay the $781.73 June lst, 1940, or the agreed $75.00 thereafter, until he gets a position. It was, however, the only way I could protect my client under the contract. No effort is going to be made to force him to do the ‘impossible’. We do, however, expect him to do the 'possible' at all times. Once we discover reliable evidence to the contrary we shall start the “mills of the gods" grinding. I feel that you and I are going to get along all right. I trust in working together we may be able to make this man and woman arrive at that 'sweet reasonableness’ which is © important and so rare in these family affairs. Mrs. Uhrlaub is starting for Colorado next Saturday morming. Her address will be: Mrs. Vernadine Uhrlaub, Box 8-872, Hdge Water Branch, Denver, Colorado. If you are in Denver this summer, I am gure she would appreciate a visit from you. Again assuring you of my desire to cooperate in all things that will make for the best interests of this broken home, I am Cordially yours, Carl S. Byers CSBsZ
