Dear Friends:

We invite you to contribute to the support of the annual
Summer Recreation Program for Lawrence children, which will be held
this year from June fifth to July fourteenth.

We are making plans for the 1944 program now; and our plans
include playgrounds, the art studio, Red Cross swimming instruction,
and teen-age activities.

Last year, with Mrs. Maurice Cannady as general director
and with regular Lawrence teachers in charge of the playgrounds,
marked our most successful summer.

We need your help to make this summer's program even better
than last. We have a cash balance of approximately $250; the Board
of Education allocates $800 for the program; and the Parent Teacher
Council has voted a gift of $150 to us. That means we have assurance
of $1200 of the $2000 which we shall need to duplicate last year's
offerings and to provide additional activities for teen-agers.

The young are the hope of America. It is imperative that
we make whatever sacrifices are necessary to give children, in this
time of chaos, opportunities for stabilizing experiences and for
wholesome physical and cultural growth.

We urge that your check be as generous as possible--and
may we hear from you soon? Gifts may be mailed to Supt. Dean at
LMHS or to Mrs. F. T. Stockton at 720 Indiana Street.
