(uk ( THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA * COLLEGE OF MEDICINE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY Iowa City, lowa July 28, 1937 Dr. Fs. Cy Bitten, Director of Department of Physical Education, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kans. My dear Dr. Allen: Since I returned from Lawrence, I have received two communications from you. The letter of welcome was appreciated and I sent it on to Mrs. Lapp who also received it very kindly. The Kansan was also welcome. I have had a conference with Mr. Elbel and we have decided as many things as we thought wise. My wife is returning tomorrow and we shall endeavor to get better acquainted with his family. He has been giving us some housing advice and I have a long list of houses for rent from the Lock Real Estate office. We can pay $30.00 unfurnished or $40.00 furnished. We hope to be in Lawrence about September lst and will try to get settled well before school starts. Some friends in Kansas City have asked us to stay with them until we get located and we expect to take them up on their proposition. The $21.96 expenses has not been forthcoming but I expect the wheels turn slowly. If there is anything you would like to have Ed and I do before we get to Lawrence, let us know. Very truly yours, V WK fp V. W. Lapp P.S. In our professional course in Physical Education, we should encourage the most intelligent to continue and have some sort of seminar which is attended by all faculty members and students. Ve W. hic
