My dear Phog:

I personally appreciate very much your call to Dr.
Horn offering facilities there to aid us in carrying on.
This is particularly appreciated due to the fact that I
know how crowded you are. It is doubtful if we will
have an opportunity to accept your kind offer due to
gasoline and rubber rationing.

We are making every effort to get the new high -
school gymnasium completed and if it is accomplished
within the next two or three weeks, we will be able to
carry on after a fashion.

You know the Methodists are hard to keep down.
They are very easy to knock down as Tuesday night's
basketball game will attest, but we hope they will not
be easy to keep down.

Congratulations on the Jayhawkers! It looks like
you will have many a nice night's sleep this year.
