Dear Frank:

I regret to advise you that your letter of August 6th
arrived a little too late for the Army command here. Yor over a
week the A~l2 students have been arriving and there are now 776
with us. Not having any gymnasium equipment, the Colonel was
terribly amclous to get going, and on July 31 he signed the OPA
order to requisition slocs. It was necessary that bids be in at
that time, Go the shoes have been ordered.

I regret this very much, beoause Mr. Jones of the U.S.
Dinter Caigiy af Kinks Oley ekliel yesterday tet, ie had
driven up from Pittsburg, Kensas, to see me and seemed creetly
G@isappointed when i told him the order had been placed. Perhaps
i shoudd have sent a copy of my letter written July 20 to the
Hew York office so that it would have caught you at either
location.

I vealize how busy you have been, but I was anxious that
you have this order if at all possible. Perhaps we can do it
